One look around while out in public and it’s clear to see that tattoos have become more popular over the last decade or so. In fact, some would say they have even become mainstream. If you are thinking about getting a tattoo, you are certainly not alone, especially if you live in the West or you are a female.
According to research conducted by Harris Interactive, 1 in 5 adults have a tattoo today. This is an increase over the number of adults who reported having at least one tattoo in 2003 and 2008 when they conducted the same research. Additionally, they report that those living in the West are more likely to have a tattoo (26 percent of adults), and those between the ages of 30-39 represent the age group most likely to have at least one tattoo.
When it comes to which gender tattoos are more popular with, women are now surpassing men. The research shows that 23 percent of women now have at least one tattoo, while 19 percent of men have at least one. This is a trend that has been changing over the years, as it used to be far more common for men to have more tattoos.
Many people worry that they will regret getting a tattoo. The good news on this is that the research shows 86 percent of the people with a tattoo never regret it. This means that there is a really good chance that you, too, will not end up regretting getting inked!
